Hello, thanks for visiting! I’m not blogging here anymore. Please check out the following sites:
- The New York Times Fixes Column. In the Opinionator section of the NYT. Every week, Pulitzer-prize winning journalist Tina Rosenberg and I examine people and organizations who are working towards solutions vis-a-vis major social problems.
- The Solutions Journalism Network. A non-profit organization that works to legitimize and support the practice of “solutions journalism” — rigorous reporting about responses to social problems.
I need to read this on a daily basis. Thank you!
Hello David–I enjoyed your article on Bullying and as a founder, Verbal Abuse Prevention in Canada these last 13 years, I really believe that Verbal Abuse is the basis of a lot of Violence–Here in Canada, our Province of PEI has an annual Verbal Abuse Prevention Week which is held the first week of October and helps schools and communities to Talk about this Abuse and come forward, wether it is the work place, schools or relationships, it opens up this abuse and shares information so everyone can talk about it–In 1998 I walked tip to tip across this Island and talked at schools along the way–It really opened up this once “silent” and “devasting” abuse- Everyone should feel safe and fee to get help no matter what the abuse, but unlike other abuses, Verbal does not have any bruises and can leave emotional scars for a life time, affecting their self-esteem and their everday life, from relationships, to raising a family to work-place-Bullying programs are wonderful and have changed how children and students get help, but do not forget “verbal Abuse” -it gets lost sometimes because when someone says “Bullying” we often only think physical violence– Thanks for the opportunity to share my views-sincerest regards, Tami Martell, Founder Walk For Talk, Verbal Abuse Prevention, PEI Canada
